HONOLULU (AP) — Administrators at Ewa Beach’s Campbell High School will be using portable classrooms to alleviate overcrowding.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports (https://bit.ly/1Nueb7D ) that the Department of Education announced Thursday that it will use the structures at Campbell to help with over-capacity class sizes and at Kealakehe High during a renovation project. The units are expected to be ready in January.
The structures were leased last October to create Keonepoko Elementary School North last year when lava threatened the school. The 10 structures will be purchased for $1.6 million and moved to the schools.
Two of the units will be used to add space to Kealakehe while the science building is renovated and the other eight will be used at Campbell.
